About: The New Orleans African American Museum of Art, Culture and History (NOAAM) is dedicated to the preservation, presentation and interpretation of the African and African American culture and heritage of New Orleans and the African Diaspora. Signature events, exhibitions, and programs keep the historic campus in the Tremé bustling with culture bearers, artists, and thought leaders.

The Current Landscape: While NOAAM has existed for 28 years, these past five years have been a complete revival of the organization. Exhibitions, events, and the partial restoration of the historic campus have been led by the visionary Executive Director along with a core leadership team. This Fund Development Manager will be a new addition to the core leadership team, charged with co-designing and executing an annual fund plan and establishing strong systems in advance of a capital campaign.

Description: The Fund Development Manager is a key member of the NOAAM leadership team responsible for co-building an annual fund plan and executing all activities tied to that annual fund.

Requirements/Responsibilities: This includes managing the grants calendar and writing all grants, developing a process for donor cultivation, managing sponsorships, overseeing the planning of all fundraising events, and developing systems to maximize fundraising capacity. NOAAM is actively building and implementing a “decolonize the museum” model. The new Fund Development Manager will be a thought partner on shifting how museums can be funded, with a focus on applying community-centric fundraising principles to the resource development department.

Qualifications: Resource mobilizers and fund development professionals with two to five years of fundraising experience and a background/ interest in African American culture, art, and design.
