About: The New Orleans African American Museum of Art, Culture, and History (NOAAM) is dedicated to preserving, presenting, and interpreting the African and African American culture and heritage of New Orleans and the African Diaspora. Signature events, exhibitions, and programs ensure that the historic campus in Tremé remains vibrant, attracting culture bearers, artists, and thought leaders.

The Current Landscape: While NOAAM has existed for 28 years, the past five years have marked a significant revival of the organization. Exhibitions, events, and the partial restoration of the historic campus have been driven by the visionary Executive Director, supported by a core leadership team.

Description: This position requires a highly detailed and organized person who is extremely professional, enjoys problem-solving in a start-up environment, and is a systems thinker. Experience in start-up environments is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the CEO with all day-to-day operational tasks as a project manager.

  • Act as the liaison for all capital projects on campus.

  • Oversee general maintenance and upgrades on campus.

  • Collaborate closely with the executive assistant and manage contractors, interns, fellows, and volunteers as needed to ensure the smooth execution of daily business operations.

  • Develop efficiency processes, create a quality service rubric, and coach teams to improve systems and strategies.

  • Maintain and organize administrative files, including passwords, tech, equipment, and new apps or subscriptions that support the organization.

  • Handle facilities and vendor management.

  • Manage earned income and revenue strategies.

  • Coordinate financial and accounting tasks in collaboration with the accountant, bookkeeper, or lawyer as needed.

  • Provide back-office support via platforms such as QuickBooks, Square, Bill.com, Google Drive, and calendars.

  • Ensure effective communication and customer service with clients and customers.

  • Organize team meetings, set agendas, and facilitate when necessary.

  • Maintain and manage the backend of Google Drive, which functions as the organization's server.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Highly organized, highly administrative, systems thinker

  • Customer Service Experience

  • Entrepreneurial Operations Experience

  • Financial Management/Accounting Experience (Quickbooks preferred)

  • Comfort with Google Office Suite

  • Independent worker with strong execution skills

  • Commitment to the creative lifestyle

Location: New Orleans, LA

Salary: $48,000 - $55,000 (PTO, Health Insurance + Dental)
